We read two articles and wrote responses to those articles. If you'd like to read the articles yourselves, here are the links. Student responses are below.

RJ: I am not really interested in dark matter but I am really interested in black holes because they have not been fully discovered. I learned that black holes are 3D. I thought it was fun today. Can we watch the video? Black holes make me think about how would we explore a black hole.
AL: I learned that black holes can be formed by stars collapsing. I also learned that when a star is smooshed It can become smaller than an atom.
CK-Black holes are the absence of space, so you can't see them, you just realize the absence of light. Dark matter we know exists, but we don't quite know what it is. It's hard to explain but we know that dark matter makes up our universe but we don't know how.
DS- I learned that black holes are easy to point out because a black hole is just an absence of light and that the black hole is 3D.
EG - I learned that the gravity pull is stronger than anything.
HB I learned that black holes are stars that are very compacted. I wonder what is on the other side of a black hole and what is in a black hole?! The article made me think of space. And I thought that what happens if there is a black hole so big and so much gravitationally pole that it started to pull in planets! And other stars. What would happen if it pulled in a star! Would it explode? Grow bigger?
HS - What if a light with higher frequency than visible light goes into a black hole? Is it possible for a black hole to absorb another black hole? Does dark matter make up part of a black hole? Is the area were the big bang happened a huge black hole?
IW - I learned Black holes are easy to point out because all you see is the absence of light and stars so basically you see a black hole and the black hole's center is an adam. I think its cool because it sucks in anything.
IH- I learned that scientists have not yet completely proven that black holes exist, there are many things such as pictures that help fill the gap but no one has seen a black hole before. I wonder how far you have to be to get pulled into a black hole and it made me think, will scientists ever completely prove that black holes exist.
JH: Black hole are impossible to see because they are smaller than atoms, but you can tell where they are because of the absence of everything from the gravitational pull. I was surprised that black holes are so small because I knew that scientist knew where they were, but I didn't know that they only saw it because of the absence around the hole. I wonder if there is a black hole millions of miles away pulling us closer and closer.
JG: i think it is weird that black holes squish things and stretch them together. I am wondering how it does this! It is like magic!
LAV - I learned that black holes can suck in everything. I was surprised that black holes are in a place with nothing. I wonder why black holes even exist and I want to know why black hole's have vacuum power if their gravity is so great? I was surprised that black holes can suck in even light. I wonder if a black hole is so powerful it can suck in another black hole if they can be that close in the first place.
LL Black holes are a mystery at what is at the other end because anyone who would dare to try would be torn apart. A black hole has the greatest gravity in the galaxy because of its great mass. I learned that even light cannot get through the gravitational field of a black hole which is surprising because light is the fastest known thing in the universe. I wonder if mankind will ever get a picture of a black hole. This study made me think about how I could visualize a black hole and how a star could be compressed so much that is the size of an atom.
LV- I learned that black holes can suck in everything and anything even you! I also realized that a black hole is almost like a vacuum only much stronger. I wonder why a black hole was even made and how it was made. I think something that was cool was if you get suckedd into a blackhole you will be stretched out really tall and maybe die.
MS-I learned that black holes are made when a star is dieing. The star gets crushed until the star is smaller than the size of an atom. The star increases in energy and then the black hole is made. I am wondering why when you get sucked into a black hole you get stretched. This made me think about how the universe works.
OC: I'm surprised that a cloud is getting sucked into a blackhole. I learned that there are 3 parts of a black hole and there is one in the center of our galaxy. I wonder when the cloud will be sucked into the blackhole. it made me think about the UNIVERSE.
RM I learned that astronomers think that there are two types of black holes called stellar- mass black hole and a supermassive black hole. I wonder if we will discover a lot more black holes? It made me think about all the universe and what we will discover next.
ZD that light can get sucked in a black hole and that you get stretched and die.
CP: Black holes are the repercussions of gravitational forces smashing together in the absence of the a large amount of matter, also known as, a star. With the absence of the star, the gravitational forces crash together like opposing waves on a rock, only, this rock gets crushed, compacted, and put in the center of a gravitational vortex capable of swallowing light itself. I learned that black holes are (read above) and that you can't see them, you can only see the absence of, well, stuff, in that area. I learned that Dark matter is the supposed makeup of 42% of the Galaxy. Dark matter was first introduced in 1933 by Fritz Zwicky, a renowned, and revered, astrologist. He studied the revolutions of the Galaxies, which were clouded in swirling clusters, and figured, by the speed of their revolutions, what their mass was. But his calculations came up short, and he figured that the remaining, Mystery Matter, must be some other type of substance. So he named it Dark Matter, for it's dark appearance. Dark Matter may, or may not be real, but there is something out there that takes up a lot of room, and Dark Matter is the best explanation for it.
EAG I have been wondering if some light can escape a black hole like gramarys. I also want to know if black holes are achly are wormholes to other parts of space. I learned that you can escape the outer event horizon and that there is to event horizons. This made my think that there might be another planit like Earth that got dsucked in to a black hoe.
HP- I learned that astronomers have not proven that black holes are real. I wonder if black holes are real and if they are why? It made me think about how the world could end in a giant black hole some day.
JD I also want to know where a black hole takes you, and why aren't puppies black holes. Dark matter is not light
KH I want to know where a black hole brings you, and if they do bring you somewhere then where? My thoughts on black holes is that they are so small and they suck up so big things?
KL I wish that there was some way we can invent a way for a human to travel near a black hole without being sucked in so we can learn more about its properties. I was also surprised that a collapsed star forms a black hole.
KR What would happen to you if you got sucked into a black hole? Would you just be floating in the middle of nothingness?
LS I can not imagine what it would feel like if you were sucked into a black hole. You would be stretched and you would only feel it for .03 seconds and then you would be dead.
LF: I learned that when you are sucked into a black hole you would only feel pain for .03 seconds. I was wondering if the earth will ever be sucked into a black hole. It made me think about that our galaxy is so much more confusing than it seems.
LW I don’t know what it would be like going through a black hole
MC I think its amazing that the black hole can fit all that debri within it. I learned that there is a cloud of dust being sucke in to a black hole right now.
MF I learned that dark matter does not absorb light or produce it. and dark matter are not puppies. Do black holes consciously eat things…
SL I am wondering if something can't get sucked into a black hole. I thought that everything that goes into a black hole can be compressed into less than a atom. I learned that black holes eat light.
SJ- Dark matter was first discovered by Fritz Zwicky. I learned that dark matter does not absorb light. it makes me think about that space goes on forever and that freaks me out sometimes.black holes are very intiresting and i want to learn more about them.
TF I learned that right now a cloud of gas is being sucked into the black hole in the center of the galaxy.
